PRAYING FOR PEACE | 
| St Nicolas Church is a haven of peace and quiet to which the people of Newbury have been coming, in good times and bad, for hundreds of years. With all the benefits of global communication we realise that the impact of war is felt much further away than the battlefield, not least for those with family members and friends on the frontline. And so, wherever we are, we reach out to God, opening our hearts to him and laying before him our thanks, our concerns, our anxieties, our fears, our anger, our longings for things to be put right. | Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) |
